Who's
in the Oval? |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Sorry for the temporary name change of the column, but I didn’t fit in a circle. And, for those of you who often comment that I never put my own picture in the Chimes, it was an opportunity that I just could not resist. Please understand that, through the miracle of technology, I could have made myself look kind of slim, but I left the picture just as Dee Moore snapped it on the Midway Par 3. Ah yes, the Westminster Presbyterian Church Ladies Golf Team has played it’s first tournament match. No one has, as yet, called to tell us that we won but I’m sure that it’s just a matter of time. There were about 20 teams of five, so it may take a few weeks for us to receive our trophies. |

| In a more newsworthy
vein, Stephanie Creel, Dianne Deming, Dee Moore, Mimi Peters and I played in
a “Golf Outing” for Habitat for Humanity on May 12. If having fun while donating
to a very worthy cause was the goal, we won, hands down!
So did everyone else, I’m sure. Last month, I wrote about the Newsletter team and what great fun it is to be a part of it (even if there are no uniforms.) Then, you honored the choir on Sunday, May 21. That’s another Westminster team on which I am privileged to be a member. And there is the team called the Session, the Board of Deacons, and all of the committees, of course. Ushering, liturgy, acolytes, counting receipts. Welcoming a new person to our midst. Vacation Bible School. There are so many opportunities for team membership in our church. Each of us, working independently, is a very important part of Westminster’s many teams. Careers, family obligations, health, and other facets of living may limit the number of teams on which one might participate. Right now, I am so lucky that I can participate in a variety of them. And all of them are fun! There were times when I could not. And, I imagine, there will again be those times. We were going to have uniform shirts printed with “Westminster Presbyterian Church Ladies Championship Habitat for Humanity Golf Outing Team, 2006” on the back. Unfortunately, my shirt was the only one on which the entire title would fit. So, we decided against it. It would have, however, allowed me to use a circle for the column. Love ya, Sally |
